Choosing to pursue IVF is a deeply personal decision.
At Pacific Reproductive Center, we understand the emotional journey and are here to guide you with compassion.
Whether you’re navigating age-related fertility challenges, are part of a same-sex couple, or have specific medical conditions impacting your fertility, we’ll help you determine whether you’re a good candidate for IVF and tailor our approach to support your family-building goals.
Is IVF Right for Me?
Deciding who qualifies for IVF depends on several factors, including your age, medical history, fertility diagnosis, and personal circumstances.
If you’re considering assisted reproductive technologies (ART) to help you achieve pregnancy, like IVF, consulting with a fertility specialist is essential. They can help you undergo the necessary evaluations and decide whether IVF is recommended for you and your unique situation.
When Is IVF Recommended?
Good candidates for IVF meet one or more of the following IVF qualifications:
- LGBTQ couples
IVF can be a vital option for LGBTQ couples (e.g., same-sex female couples using donor sperm and same-sex male couples using surrogacy options). - Individuals or Couples Under Age 35
If you’ve been trying to conceive (TTC) for more than 12 months without success and are under age 35, IVF can help overcome several fertility challenges. - Individuals or Couples Over Age 35
For those over 35 who have been TTC for more than six months without success, IVE is often recommended to bypass several fertility challenges associated with advanced age and declining egg quality. - Female-Factor Infertility
Women with conditions such as a blocked fallopian tube, endometriosis, ovulation disorders, or unexplained infertility may benefit from IVF. - Male-Factor Infertility
Men with low sperm count, poor sperm motility, or other sperm-related issues can also be good candidates for IVF. In this scenario, many fertility specialists will also recommend Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), where a single sperm is injected directly into an egg, to increase your chance of success.
If your primary care provider or OBGYN has discussed the possibility of fertility treatments with you, and you meet the IVF candidate requirements, you might be a good candidate for IVF.
